If you are a Passenger on the New York's Long Island Railroad and the Metro-North Railroad systems, soon, you'll be able to get and validate your train ticket using your smartphone.
A mobile-ticketing platform is going to be developed on all the phones Operating Systems, Android, iOS, Windows phone and Blackberry, to help you get your ticket via an App on your smartphone.
The plateform is known as Masabi, and their goal is to help people gain time instead of wasting it waiting in a long queue.
Masabi CEO Ben Whitaker said that "By transforming smartphones into vending machines, we are making waiting in line a thing of the past."
Replacing the usual paper ticket with an electronic one, is a strong signal of the future dominance of smartphones over vending machines.
