CES2015: NFC baby Thermometer In An NFC Stick

After the ability to unlock your Moto X with a temporary tattoo, the same company called VivaLnk is now unveiled a new kind of tattoo, it is a cute NFC sticker dedicated to temperature monitoring, the NFC chip is equipped with a temperature sensor that will take 3 seconds to tell you about your kid's temperature on a dedicated smartphone App.

The kid friendly designed sticker can last for 15 days, it is washable and it will be available in a pack of three that will cost you $15 and $20.

The Kite Patch Will Make Invisible To Mosquitos

Grey Frandsen, Michelle Brown and Torrey Tayanaka from the Olfactor Laboratories have developed a new patch, The Kite Patch, not for smokers or addicted peoples, but it is to repel mosquitos and make you invisible to them !

The mosquito detect you or your food from hundreds of feet away by detecting the carbon dioxide emanating from your body, so the idea of the Kine Patch is to disturb the mosquito's receptors so it cannot find you anymore.

The Kite Patch is a small non-toxic sticker that you can place on your clothing, and that will make you invisible to mosquitos for up to 48 hours, the researchers have identified three groups of chemicals that can disrupt a mosquito's carbon dioxide receptors.

Each group of chemicals works a little differently to confound its target. The first actually mimics carbon dioxide, and could be used to lure mosquitoes away from their human targets and into insect traps; the second prevents the mosquitoes from detecting carbon dioxide altogether; and the third actually switches the CO2-sensing machinery of the mosquitoes into overdrive, overloading the mosquitoes' senses to the point of confusion.

A large number of patches will be tested in Uganda, a country that suffers from diseases like malaria infection, optimizations will be made on the Kite patch before making a global distribution.

An Electronic Pill To Control Birth Remotely

A new startup from Massachussetts called MicroCHIPS is working on an electronic pill that can be implemented under the skin, it is just for women, but why is that ?
The pill is created to assure contraception in a whole new way, and this project is developed under the encouragement and the financing of Bill Gates..

How It Works

The new pill is an electronic chip that measure 20x20x7 mm, it can be implemented under the skin in three ways: under the skin of the buttock, the arms or the abdomen, it sends daily doses of 30 micrograms of levonorgestrel, which is an hormone already used in other types of contraceptives. Doses are prepared in advance inside tiny tanks who exists on the chip, then, the doses are released thanks to a micro-battery that sends an electric current to the tanks so they melt and release the hormone.

The big innovation is not just this, the pill can be remotely controlled ! So it can be enabled or disabled using a remote control so the doses can be managed by the doctor or by yourself.

Unlike any other contraceptive device, this chip can last a real long period of 16 years in which you can take a full control of having babies...

According to Robert Farra, the start-up manager, this idea is born from the words of Bill Gates in 2012, when he asked if it could be possible to control birth remotely.
MicroCHIPS is assuring that there is no health negative effects with using the chip, anyway, this implant is not going be available in the markets before 2018.

E-tattoos Explained

We have talked in the last two publications about Electronic Tattoos, called also (E-tattoos), this article will explain, how they work, how they are implemented, and how they can be used.

Description

E-Tattoos or Electronic Skin patches,  are flexible patches that can be stamped into your skin (chest, hand...).
They contains nano-electronic flexible components, which are maid from silicon wires measuring nanometers in thickness.

Domain of use

Electronic tattoos can be used in so many different field, notably in health monitoring. A baby who will be born in the next decade may
get a tattoo, it would monitor it's vital activities and biometric parameters like cardiogram , physical activity, nutritional status, breathing rate, sleep duration, body temperature...
Data collected from the patch would be stored in the cloud, those data will be transferred by wireless connections into tablets, smartphones or computers to tell about the actual state of your baby's health.

Not only babies can have this electronic patches, patients can also have them, they will be monitored even they are not in the hospital.
The patches will contain sensors than can check if the patient has taken the right dosage of his drug. It can alarm the doctor if some of the vital activities of the patient are not working well...

Problem with the Electronic Tattoos

The main problem is that these patches should be powered enough so they can store data for a long period of time.
development of nano-technology has made researchers develop patches consuming a lower rate of power, also energy can be delivered from
external batteries carried out in your pocket...
A flexible electronic skin patch

As we have talked in the last few hours about the electronic tattoos (checkout the article), an electronic skin patch is not going to be weird, it has a gauge that can measure tremors, it can also heat elements to release drugs inside little particles located on the patch, this heating can be also activated remotely

this electronic patch is still under development, it can help patient who have a movement disorder...

Dae-Hyeong Kim, assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering at Seoul National University said that: “The system represents a new direction in personalized health care that will eventually enable advanced diagnostics and therapy on devices that can be worn like a child’s temporary tattoo,"

Other more detailed articles will be posted about this interesting subject.

Electronic Tattoos !

Did you always wanted to have a tattoo, but you parents wont let you do it ?! Maybe you will get an electronic one soon !

Scientists at the University of Illinois have created a new class of electronic devices, bio-compatible, small and flexible circuits, designed to last even months before being dissolved harmlessly into your body or simply being moved away.

The idea is to control your health without being surrounded by doctors, and without even staying at the hospital, all your biologic activities can be monitored, (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature...). These tattoos can be also used as a monitor for babies...

Maybe you are saying, how to print them on your body !, this tattoos can be printed on silicon and then transferred into the skin.
