Info

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab "MIT" came with a new unbelievable technology, the FingerReader, it is a ring that enables blinds and vision impaired people to read any printed text just by placing their fingers on the wanted text after wearing the device !

How it works

The FingerReader is a wearable 3D printed device in the form of a ring, this small device contain even a smaller camera that goes through the text and scans the letters, and then, the device reads the traversed text out loud for you in real time ! The FingerReader is not only for blinds, the device can be also used for translation if you were on a trip...

According the MIT website "The FingerReader is a wearable device that assists in reading printed text. It is a tool both for visually impaired people that require help with accessing printed text, as well as an aid for language translation. "
Another amazing thing, if the user is getting away from the text, a vibration is triggered to alert him to go back in line.

Future

This is the first technology to help the blinds reading in real-time, but, a little problem is still under solving, the FingerReader cannot read from touch screens like tablets.., it can only read papers, as the device is still a prototype, the final product will surely contain this feature.
