Sharp was not focusing on the smartphone market, it is well known for its TVs, but a long ago, they have produced smartphones that were marketed in Japan, but now, Sharp are bringing their Aquos Crystal smartphone to the US.
The first thing you can see is the borderless HD display, the phone's screen doesn't contain an edge, thats why the launching event tag was "take the edge off".
The display is a 5-inch HD one, the phone contains a 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front camera, it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that manages 1.5GB of RAM, the Aquos Crystal have a 8 GB internal storage that you can extend to 128 GB with a microSD, Aquos Crystal will run on the Android KitKat 4.4.2.
Sharp also announced another device which is the Aquos Crystal X, it only available in Japan for now, the specs are higher with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
the device will be available exclusively through Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile and it is priced at $199.
